The Poker Run team gave $200.00 gift cards to James Peters, John E. Green, Dolly Kramer, Helen M. Watson, Martha Vogel, Thomas Sherman and two other cancer patients. We have donated over $6500.00 in gift cards this year and $2000.00 to cancer research.

The team would like to thank everyone who has supported our efforts and attended our ride. The patients and research groups appreciate your generosity. We hope everyone has a healthy and safe riding season in 2012. We look forward to seeing all our families and friends on June 16th, 2012 so we can continue to provide cancer patients and Lung and Ovarian research with the help they need.

Rest In Peace Denise and all the other people who have lost their battle with cancer in the past year.


 

 The Memorial Fund gave $700.00 worth of gift cards to the Cancer Support Groups christmas party in December at Fostoria Hospital. This is a monthly get togeather for people going through treatment and those that have finished their treatment. We hope they all enjoyed their time at the party and could use the cards to get something nice for themselves.

  The Poker Run team donated Kalahari vacation pakages to two local children going through cancer treatments. One was 5 year old Kyla Tate who was diagnosed with leukima in 2010. We hope both children and their families had a nice time and could get away and enjoy some fun time togeather. We wish both children good health in 2012.

 The poker run team gave a $1000.00 to the Ovarian Cancer Connection at the ovarian cancer walk on September 17, 2011 in Toledo. The money stays locally at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo for ovarian cancer research. The Memorial Fund has donated over $4000.00 to the fight against Ovarian Cancer ths past 4 years.

A $1000.00 donation was also given to The National Lung Cancer Partnership for further lung cancer research. The Lung Cancer Partnership has made great strides in the earley diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. The Memorial Fund has given $10,000.00 to The Lung Cancer Partnership over the last 4 years.

The Memorial Poker Run team has also given $7500.00 to The American Cancer Society the past 4 years.

 The team gave $200.00 gift cards to Tina Warsop-Bean and Allison Karr, who is doing chemo treatments again, to do something nice for themselves or help with expenses. We wish them good luck and hope for things to go well.

 Poker run team member Dwayne"s uncle James Myers, who is battling lung cancer and his son-in-law Glenn Allison, who has prostate cancer were given $200.00 cash cards to help with expenses while they recieve treatment. James is currently doing chmeo and Glenn will have surgery soon. We wish them both good luck and we pray for there return to good health.

We also gave Mark ( left) who is in his second battle with lukiemia two tickets to Cedar Point and a cash card for food and gas. We hope he has a nice time and can forget about his battle for a while.

 

 The Poker Run Team gave $200.00 cash cards to William Morel, Bob Steck,Dominga Puenta and Elizabeth (Betty) Nye to assist in expeneses or to do something nice for themselves. We hope things are going well for them and wish them good health in the future.
We also want to thank the nurses at the Fostoria Hospital infusion center ( Kim, Mara, Brittney, Gen, Marieane, Mary Ann and Jolene) for their help in passing out gift cards and for their support.


 
 
                          



 The 4th Denise Youngs poker run was another great success. We had 185 motorcycles and over 250 people ride in the run. The weather was beautiful and more than 400 people attended . We raised almost $7000.00 the day of the ride and that will bring our fund raising for the year to over $14,000.00. We want to thank everyone for their donations and thank all those who came out and enjoyed the day.We also send out a special thanks to everyone who helped make the event go so well.
We will continue our main focus to help local cancer patients and make a donation to The National Lung Cancer Partnership and The Ovarian Cancer Connection.
So for all the cancer patients and the poker run team we say thanks for your support and we will continue our fight to beat cancer. We look forward to seeing you on June 16th, 2012.

  The poker run team gave $200.00 cash cards to Mary Alge, Mike Peelman, Gloria Norman, Thomas Ciesluk and Alison J Karr to help with expenses or to do something nice for themselves. They are currently going through cancer treatment and we hope that things go well. We are proud to support them as they continue to fight this battle and pray for their good health.

 The Northwest Ohio ovarian cancer advocacy group has changed there web site to www.ovariancancerconnection.org and is working with doctors at The Toledo Medical College. This allows them to keep there money local and help the doctors who are doing research on ovarian, cervical and other women related cancers. The Denise Youngs Memorial Fund has donated over $4000.00 to Ovarian cancer research in the past and will continue to work with them in the fuure.

  The Poker un team donated  $200.00 gift cards to Cindy Durst, Jim Kraliek and James Hardin who are going through cancer treatments. We hope that Cindy, Jim and James can use it to do something nice for themself or help pay some bills. We wish them good health and hope people keep them in their prayers and thoughts. 

  Friend of the Poker Run and fellow motorcycle rider Lynnn Mintz was recently diagnosed with a reaccurane of cancer. They found Lynn's tumor earley and her prognosis is very good. Lynn has gone through more chemotherapy and has not been able to work. The Poker Run team helped Lynn pay some bills until she gets back on her feet. Lynn would like to thank everyone for there prayers and well wishs and to tell everyone she is determined to get well and ride again soon. We wish Lynn good health and look forward to seeing her at the poker run.

  Tony, Tom, Craig, Randy, Jeff, Duane and Ron would like to wish everyone a Healthy and Prosperous New Year. We look forward to seeing all our friends and supporters at the Poker Run on June 18th, 2011. Keep riding free and remember those who have gone before us.

  The Memorial Poker Run Team donated $3000.00 to the Northwest Ohio Ovarian Cancer Coalalion at there "Walk To Break The Silenece" on September 18th, 2010. The money is from proceeds we raised at the Memorial Poker Run in June. All  $3000.00 will be used by a team of  doctors at The Toledo Mecical College for womens ovarian cancer research. The Poker Run Team wants to thank everyone for there donations and congratulate the over 100 survivors who attended the walk. 

  The Memmorial Poker Run Team donated $5000.00 to the National Lung Cancer Partnership on July 31, 2010 at there annual Rumble Run in Perrysburg, Ohio. The money was part of the proceeds raised from our poker run in June and we were the largest single donation for the event. Ron is pictured here with Luann Cummings, who is a lung cancer suvivor and the local advocte for lung cancer awareness. Luann works very hard to promote lung cancer awareness and has become a very big supporter of the Memorial Poker Run. We wish Luann the best and we will continue to help her in her fight against lung cancer.

 

 The Memorial Poker Run team donated $100.00 to The Rally for the Cure Golf outting on July 24th. The event is a fund raiser for breast cancer research and is organized by team member Tony Kracher's mom Deb. All those affected by breast cancer appreciate Deb's hard work organizing the golf outting and supportting breast cancer  for many years.

The Poker Run team would like to thank Deb for her hard work in the fight against cancer.

 

 The 3rd Denise Youngs Memorial Poker Run on June 19th, 2010 was the most successful ride yet. We had over 150 bikes and almost 200 people ride and raised over $10,000.00 that will be donated to tne National Lung Cancer Partnership and The National Ovarian Cancer Colalition of Northwest Ohio, plus we will continue to support all local cancer charities and local cancer rides. The poker run team would like to thank everyone for coming out and supporting our efforts and also thank all those who donated and volunteered to help us. With out all your support we could not continue to keep the fight against cancer going.

Friend of the poker run Lyne Walby was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Lyne has gone through some surgery and treatments and is now teaching her nursing class and getting ready to ride again. The poker run team donated a $100.00 gift card for Lyne to use on her recent cruise and well deserved vacation.

We wish Lyne good health and look forward to seeing her at the poker run.

 The poker run team of Ron, Tony, Tom, Craig, Randy and Duane would like to thank everyone for attending all the cancer benefits and fund raisers this summer. We donated over $6400.00 to seven different charities. Tony rode in many of those and I personally attended six of those events and met many cancer survivors and everyone apprecated the teams efforts to bring awareness and funds for cancer research. We will continue to raise funds and promote awareness for the many under funded cancers such as lung, ovarian, colon and uterine cancer. So again thanks for your help and we look forward to seeing everyone at next years poker run.

 

 The Denise Youngs Memorial Fund donated $100.00 to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition's recent "Walk To Break The Silence" in Toledo. Ohio. The donation was made in Honor of Lynn Boff-Mintz who is pictured here with the over 60 ovarian cancer survivors who attended the event on September 19, 2009.

 

 Ron and some family and friends attended the National Lung Cancer Partnerships first ever combined motorcycle ride and 5k run held in Perrysburg, Ohio on August 29th, 2009. The Denise Youngs Memoriall Fund donated $4000.00 to National Lung Cancer Partnership that was raised from our poker run. I met with Louann Cummings who is the partnerships local advocate and a six year lung cancer survivor and she told me she would like to thank the poker run team and all our volunteers and everyone who helped make this large donation possible. Lung cancer kills more women and men than breast, prostate, colon, kidney, liver and melanoma cancers combined.Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer, although almost 20 percent of lung cancer patients never smoked. Lung cancer kills more women than breast, ovarian and uterine cancer combined.

  The poker run team donated  $100.00 to the Carla Alexander benefit on August 22nd that was held at Freindly Ron's. Carla is currently under going treatment for uterine cancer. Carla is doing well and we ask that you keep Carla in your thoughts and prayers.

. The poker run team donated a Harley tool box to the Lynn Boff-Mintz cancer ride on August 8th.The tool box was auctioned off and the $80.00 was donated to the cause. Lynn rode with Ron, Tony and Rhonda and despite a little rain the event was a great success. Lynn was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in February and after surgery and chemo she is now cancer free and on her way to a full recovery. Lynn would like to thank everyone for attending the ride and with their help over the past few difficult months.We wish Lynn good health and happiness.

                            The Denise Youngs Memorial Fund donated $100.00 to sponser a hole at the Rally for the Cure golf outing in Fostoria, Ohio on July 25th. The event is a fund raiser for breast cancer research and is organized by team member Tony Kracher's mom Deb.

 

 Team members Tony, Jeff and Ron attended the Snuffy's cancer ride on Saturday July 11th, 2009 . The poker run team donated a Harley tool box that was raffled off by Tony's wife Rhonda and Ron and donated the $100.00 to the cause. Also at the event 86 year old Ernie Fork took his first motorcycle ride in over 30 years and the pictures tell the story. Hope we can ride again soon Ernie.

 The poker run on June 20th was another great sucess. We had over 125 motorcycles and 165 people register for the ride. We gave away over $2500.00 worth of donated prizes and cash at this years ride and raised over $7000.00 that was donated to the National Lung Cancer Partnership and the American Cancer Society. In the last year we have donated almost $14,000.00 to cancer research groups, local cancer patients and other cancer charity events in the area.

We will continue to donate our time and money to local cancer rides including the Snuffy's Bar run, the Lynn Boff-Mintz poker run at Rollersville Bar and the Carla Alexander charity event at Freindly Ron's to name a few. If anyone knows of an event or cancer patient that is having a ride or event in the area let me know at this web site and we will try to help.

 Barb Carlo, 67, of Fostoria, Ohio passed away Friday, June 19, 2009 at her home.She worked for the American Cancer Society as Seneca County Director for many years and started the Seneca County Relay for Life. Barb helped in getting our first poker run off to a great start by promoting us in the paper and on the radio.Barb bought the first raffle ticket we ever sold. All cancer survivors owe Barb a debt of gratitude for all her hard work in promoting cancer related charities and services.                                                       

The poker run team would like send our condolences to Barb's family. 

 

 Jack Romaker, 83, of Tucson, Az. and formerly of Custer, Oh passed away May 31, 2009.Jack is the father of Terri Garner and father-in-law of Greenup. He is a WWII veteran, serving in the Army Air Corp. Jack spent his summers in Ohio riding his "Plum Crazy" shovelhead with many of us to events around the area.

Rest in peace Jack and keep on riding forever. 

 

 Update on Donna: Donna has had her surgury and radiation treatments and is now cancer free. She would like to thank everyone for their support and well wishs over the past few months.

One of Denise's freinds and riding partners Donna Foster has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Donna will have some surgery and treatment and be back on her bike and riding cancer free in no time.

Donna is a member of the American Legion Riders and  the GWRR and can be seen at many local charity rides wiht her big smile and giving heart. So when you see Donna give her, as Donna says, a squeeze and tell her good luck.

Denise's riding freinds with her Sporster at the 5th annual Napoleon H-D womens ride on May 2nd. This was one of Denise's favorite events and and she encouraged her fellow women riding freinds to attend.

 Kristen Frankforther, 53, passed away April 5th, 2009 in Fostoria. Krissy is the wife of Ron Frankforther who is a sponser of The Memorial Poker Run Team and the owner of Freindly Ron,s Cafe in Wayne. Ron has been a hugh help in organizing and donating to the Poker Run. The Poker Run Team would like to send our prayers and thoughts out to Ron and his family. 

 

The poker run team donated $100.00 to the Ducky Day Benefit on Nov. 15th held at Friendly Ron's in Wayne. Team members Ron and Tom used the money to do 50/50 raffles throught out  the day and raised over $1100.00 that was donated to the family of Hal Foster.Hal was diagnosed with cancer earlier in the year and is now on his way to a full recovery. The event raised over $20,000.00 for the Foster family to help with expenses. The poker run team wishes Hal and his family the best. 

  

Bonnie Weiker was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Bonnie has gone through some surgery and some other treatments and I am happy to say she is doing fine and is now cancer free.  Bonnie is back to work and riding her bike.

 Let's keep Bonnie in our prayers and thoughts as she continues on the road to recovery.

           I got this update on Leila from her mom Tarah on October 2nd, 2009.
The last lab tests show that the transplant is working and she is on her way to a good working immune system and ready to be taken off the steriods she has been on her whole life. Here is a new picture of Leila at 2years and five months.

 Poker Run team member Dwayne's grand-daughter Lelia Everly was born May 31, 2007 Lelia was diagnosed with DiGeorge Syndrome and doctors at Duke University recommended a life saving Thymus Gland transplant. Dwayne and his wife Yvette and other volunteers are raising an estimated $40,000.00 to help with the transplant.  

Leila went to Duke University on Feb 1st  for her transplant. Leila and her mom Tarah are now home and the transplant is working and Leila is now recovering. Leila can now get outside and do things she has not been able to do before.

Leila's mom Tarah and grandparents Yvette and Duane would like to thank everyone for there support and prayers.

Lets keep Leila and Tarah in our thoughts and prayers.
