The 10th and final Denise Youngs Memorial Poker Run was held on June 17th, 2017. We had over 75 bikes and 130 people ride in the group ride to Napoleon. There were 12 cancer survivors and over 175 people enjoy a day of music, food, raffles and celebration. We want to thank the Wayne Fire Department for hosting the event and all the people who volunteered, for making the day run so smooth. I want to especially Thank all the many sponsors and friends who have donated to the event over the past 10 years. With there help we have raised over $130,000.00 for the Memorial Cancer Fund and have given money and gift cards to hundreds of cancer patients, cancer survivors and The Lung Cancer Partnership and The Ovarian Cancer Connection. We will continue to support local cancer patients and survivors till all our funds are used. A big Thank You to the Memorial Poker Run Team, the volunteers and to everyone who has come out and rode in the ride and who attended the event on the 3rd Saturday in June for 10 years. We are proud that we have no expenses and have been able to pay forward every dollar raised. I hope everyone continues to support their favorite cancer charities and the many people going through cancer treatment and the cancer survivors. We hope things are going well and pray for everyone's continued good health. Ride safe.

The poker run team has made numerous donations to cancer patients and cancer charity events over the summer and fall. We donated to patients at Fostoria Hospitals Cancer Center and to local people to help with expenses that are receiving treatment. We gave over $1000.00 in gas cards to The Ovarian Cancer Connection to help women travel to cancer treatments. The Memorial fund made a $1000.00 contribution to the National Lung Cancer Partnership to support lung cancer research. We have now donated over $18,000.00 to the lung cancer fight over the past 10 years. I attended the Ovarian Cancer Connection annual walk and made a $1500.00 donation to help local women fighting ovarian cancer. We have now donated over $10,000.00 to The Ovarian Cancer Connection over the past 8 years.
The team will continue to make more donations to help people locally and will give out gift cards to survivors and people in treatment over the holidays to help brighten their day. We will work on our last ride in June and will let everyone know our plans at a later date. I wish everyone a happy holiday season and pray for good health to everyone.
The 9th Memorial Poker Run was another great day with 130 motorcycles and 185 people ride in the run. We had 12 cancer survivors in attendance and over 250 people enjoy the great weather. We raised over $8100.00 the day of the event which brought our fund raising total to over $13,500.00 for the year. I would like to thank everyone who passed out cards, cooked, sold tickets or volunteered in any way and everyone one who rode or attended. With the help of the many donors and people who have made the 3rd Saturday in June a special day the last 9 years we have raised over $120,000.00 and helped many local cancer patients and survivors. We will continue our focus of helping local cancer patients and will make a donation to the Lung Cancer Partnership and The Ovarian Cancer Connection, who help local women fighting that battle. Next year will be our 10th and final ride and I will add more info as we get closer.

The Memorial Fund has made donations of cash and gift cards to over 25 people currently in treatment or just finishing treatment for different forms of cancer. We hope and pray that all of them win their battle and get well soon. We donated gas cards to the Ovarian Cancer Connection and to some other patients in need. The poker run team has been working on the 9th Denise Youngs Memorial Ride and have some nice gifts and other great events planned. The team has decided that next year will be our 10th and final ride and we are working on making it the biggest and most memorable ride. I will post more information on that ride at a later date. We wish everyone a safe summer and remember to ride safe and remember those who have gone before us.
This holiday season the Memorial Fund passed out gift cards to 10 people who have won the cancer battle and we pray for their continued good health. We gave cash to 6 people who are currently in treatment to help with expenses. The fund donated $500.00 in gas cards to the Ovarian Cancer Connection to help local women with travel expenses. We gave $250.00 in cards to Fostoria Hospital Cancer Center and $250.00 to the Bowling Green Hospital Cancer Center. The poker run team hopes the donations helps brighten the day for all the people and hope that the new year brings good health to everyone.
The Memorial fund made a $1000.00 donation to the National Lung Cancer Partnership which brings our support in the fight against lung cancer to over $17,000.00 the past 8 years. Ron and some friends attended the Ovarian Cancer Connections annual walk and made a $1000.00 donation to further their support of local women fighting ovarian cancer. We have now donated over $8500.00 to their cause the past 7 years.
The poker run team made cash gifts to 10 people currently receiving treatment for cancer. We wish all these people good luck and pray that their treatments are successful.
The Memorial Fund recently passed out $250.00 in gas cards to The Bowling Green Hospital Cancer Center, $250.00 to the Ovarian Cancer Connection and $250.00 to the Fostoria Hospital Cancer Center. We also gave cash and gas cards to 8 people currently in treatment. We hope this donation gives them the feeling they are not in this alone and that people care. We will continue to make these donations through the year.

The 8th Denise Youngs poker run was another great day with 190 motorcycles and over 230 people riding on the run. The weather was great and the attendance was one of the largest ever. We raised over $8400.00 at the event and that will bring this years total to over $13,500.00 for the year. Their were 15 cancer survivors in attendance and that made the day that much more special. The event has grown each year and because of all the support we have now raised over $105,000.00 the past eight years. We want to thank all the people who donated, passed out cards, cooked and volunteered in any way. We also want to thank Jocker's Pub and Grub for hosting the event. We especially want to thank everyone who came out and rode, with out them we would not be able to help all the cancer patients we have. The Memorial Fund will make a donation to the Lung Cancer Partnership and The Ovarian Cancer Connection and continue our main focus on helping local cancer patients and survivors. THANKS to everyone who donated in any way and we hope to see you on the 3rd Saturday in June next year.
Donna Lewis-Decker (pictured on the right with other survivors at the 2013 poker run) passed away recently after a long battle with cancer. Donna fought the battle with determination and a smile on her face and was an inspiration to other cancer patients she encountered. We would like to thank Donna's family and friends for their donation to the memorial fund, we will pass it on to the cancer center at Fostoria hospital in Donna's memory. May you rest in peace forever Donna.
The memorial fund also sent some gas cards to the Ovarian Cancer Coalition to pass on to ladies in fighting that battle.
We recently gave $600.00 of gift cards to Gini of the ovarian cancer connection to assit local women fighting the disease and $200.00 to The BuckeyeThon to help in the fight against pediatric cancer. We gave out $400.00 in gift cards to some local cancer suvivors at Christmas and helped 12 people currrently in cancer treatment with expenses. Our hope is that all these people find good health and peace in the coming year.
The memorial poker run team would like to thank a special freind for their generous donation of $2000.00 to support local cancer patients and the ovarian cancer connection. We will pay the money forward as with their wishes.
We also want to wish everyone a healthy and prosperous 2015 and hope that all the cancer patients continue to win their battle and get cancer free.
We recently gave out $3400.00 in cash gifts to 17 people in cancer treatment and some who are in remission. We understand the financial and emotional struggle cancer diagnosis can cause and hope that every gift either small or large can let them know people care.Our hope is that they win the battle and everything gets better for them and their families.

The Memorial team recently donated $1000.00 to the National Lung Cancer Partnership, $500.00 to the Lung Cancer Alliance and $1500.00 to the Ovarian Cancer Connection from money rasied at the poker run. This brings our support for the fight against lung cancer over the past 7 years to over $16,000.00 and the fight against ovarian cancer to $7500.00. We thank all the people who have helped us in this battle to find a cure and improve the lives of the survivors.
The poker run team gave out cash to six people curently in cancer treatment and gave a vacation to Kalahari Resort to Donna Lewis-Decker to enjoy a week-end with her family. We would also like to thank the family of Mike Buckley for donating to the Memorial Cancer Fund after his recent passing. We helped Mike while he was recieving treatment and appreciate the familys donation. Our condolences to his family. RIP Mike
The 7th Denise Youngs poker run was the largest bike turn-out for the event ever. We had 210 bikes and over 250 people ride.
The weather was fantastic and the total people who attended was the largest yet and that helped our fund raising total for the year to exceed $14,000.00. We had the pleasure of celebrating the 13 survivors who could attend. The grand-prize winners are on the the winners and sponsors page. We want to thank all the great donors for all the nice things we gave away and Sarka Construction and Findlay Shop Supply for donating all the prize money. A special thanks to all the volunteers who helped sell tickets, cook and serve food, pass out cards at the stops and D's Center Street Cafe for hosting the ride. A big THANK YOU to every-one who came out and rode and everyone who attended, your support of all the local cancer patients and Lung and Ovarian cancer research makes all the efforts worth it. We will make a donation to The Lung Cancer Alliance, Ovarian Cancer Connection and The National Lung Cancer Partnership and continue our focus to assist local people going through treatment.So in closing Thanks and we hope to see everyone next year on the 3rd saturday in June.

The poker run team made a $400.00 donation to The Lung Cancer Alliance of Ohio in support of Denise's daughter Regan Youngs Braun running the Delaware, Ohio half- marathon. Regan told me she trained and ran wiht her mom and Grandma Tish, Aunt Debbie and Lynn as her inspiration. We also gave out $600.00 to some local cancer patients
We would like to thank the family of Hal (Ducky) Foster for the very generous donation to The Denise Youngs cancer fund in his memory. We will pass the money on to cancer patients in the area in his memory. The Poker Run team gave out $2400.00 to twelve people currently in cancer freatment and hope they are all doing better and have a fast recovery.
We are sad to announce the passing of Denise's sister Debbie Lyons on Febuary 13, 2014 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Debbie was a wonderful mother, grand-mother, sister and aunt to all her family and always had a great sense of humor and a smile on her face. She helped with all the previous poker runs and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. We want to thank Debbie's family for the generous donation to The Denise cancer fund that will assist other cancer patients in Debbie's memory. She is survived by her husband of 40 years Dave, sons Donny (Buffy), Darrel (Leann), grand-daughter Madison, sisters Deana and Darlene and many neices and nephews. She wa preceedin death by father Bud, mother Tish, brother Dale and sister Denise. Rest in peace with the angles forever Deb.
The poker run team wants to announce a $2000.00 donation to the memorial fund from an anonymous friend. We greatly appreciate this pay it forward from this friend. This past 2 months we gave $400.00 to the National Lung Cancer Alliance for a local fund raiser. We also gave $200.00 gift cards to 13 people currently in cancer treatment. Ron attended the Fostoria Hopital Cancer survivor Christmas party and passed out gift cards and fruit baskets to the 12 ladies in attendence. The Poker Run Team wants to wish everyone a Happy Holiday season and for all the cancer patients to be cancer free in 2014.

Lynn Boff-Mintz passed away October 23, 2013 after a long hard fought battle with ovarian cancer. Lynn was a special friend of the poker run team and a devoted volunteer. May you rest in peace Lynn and we will continue to help the Ovarian Cancer Colalition in her memory.We also gave $200.00 gift cards to 10 people currently going through chemo, some of them we have helped before and are back for chemo again. We hope all of them are doing well and that they know everyone is praying for their good health.

The Memorial Poker Run Team is sad to announce the passing of Denise's mother Tish Dean at age 79. Tish was a great influnce and inspiration to her family and many friends. Tish is suvived by her sister Cindy, daughters Debbie Lyons, Deana Shank and Darlene Kern, grand children Cassy Shank, Nikia Reese, Desire Buchman, Dale Kern, Donnie Lyons, Darrel Lyons, Regan Braun and Brad Youngs, 7 great grand children and 1 great-great grand daughter. She was preceded in deah by her mother, father and children Buddy Kern and Denise Youngs. Tish will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. May you rest in peace forever Dear Tish.
The Memorial Fund recently made a $1000.00 donation to The National Lung Cancer Partnership and a $250.00 donation to The National Lung Cancer Alliance. We also made a $1500.00 donation to the Ovarian Cancer Coallition. The 6th Denise Youngs Memorial Poker Run was another very sucessful event. We had 185 bikes register and over 220 people ride in the poker run. We had 12 cancer survivors attend and many of them rode in the ride. Thanks to the Ovarian Cancer Connection ladies, The Donate Life Ohio ladies for signing up organ donors, Kim and the nurses from the Fostoria Hospital chemo center and Luann fron Tha National Lung Cancer Alliance for setting up their booths and passing out important cancer information. Thanks to everyone who came and rode their bikes and everyone that bought raffle tickets and participated in our drawings that day. Also a big THANKS to a everyone who donated items and the sponsers who put up the money for our grand prize drawing and all the volunteers who helped make the day so sucessfull. With everyones support we were able to raise over $16,000.00 to continue our efforts to help with cancer research and especilly to help local cancer patients. Hope to see eveyone next year on the third Saturday in June for ride number 7.
The Poker Run is on June 15th, 2013 and our flyers are out there in many locations. We have changed our bike route a little, but it is still around a 100 miles. Rafffle tickets for the $1500.00 1st prize, $500.00 2nd prize, $250.00 3rd prize and $150.00 4th prize are now on sale from any poker run teammember,Cindy K. at Reed Air, Friendly Ron's, Slow Ride Saloon, Snuffy's Bar and other locations. The Memorial Fund donated over $2,600.00 in gift cards to patients who have recently been in cancer treatment. Many of these patients are revieving there treatments at The Fostoira Infusion Center. Some of those are Angel Burrier, Mary Palmer, Margret Horner, Hubert Kinney,Leonard Oldaker and Karen Schultz. We also gave cards to a couple men who have always attended the poker run, Hal Foster and Howard Thaulker. We gave Jason Stewart a $200.00 card and $100.00 Kalahari to enjoy with his family. We wish all these people good luck and pray for there continued good health.
Ron attended the Fostoria Hospitals annual Christmas cancer suvivor party in December and gave $600.00 of gift cards and some other gifts to Oncology nurse Kim Wiliford to pass out at the party and to other patients who could not attend. We also want to thank the nurses at the oncology center for supplying us with patient names and the care and compassion towards all their cancer patients.

The Poker Run team gave out 10 gift cards of $200.00 chemotherapy patients at Fostoria Hospitals new oncology center. A few of the patients were Larry Mullanhour, Eugene Potridge, David Stienmetz, Nancy Breidenbach, Shirley Keels, Micheal Shaffer and Suzanne Hopkins. We wish all the patients good luck in there battle and pray for a fast recovery.
The Memorial Poker RunTeam made a $1500.00 donation to the Northwest Ohio Ovarian Cancer Connection at the Break The Silence Walk in September. This brings our donations against ovarian cancer to $5600.00 over the past 4 years. All money raised by The Northwest Ohio Ovarian Cancer Connection is used to assist local women in their fight against ovarian cancer. We gave a $100.00 Kalahari gift card at the event to survivor Amanda Yeary and we sent her a hair care gift card and cash card to help with her vacation trip. I met Alexandria Kuzinicki at the walk, who at 15 was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She is one of the youngest known ovarian survivors. Now 21 and a college student she is an inspiration to many cancer survivors. I gave her a hair care and massage gift card and sent a $200.00 cash card. We wish both young ladies good luck and pray for their continued good health.
The Poker Run team made a $2000.00 donation to The National lung Cancer Partnership from money raised at the poker run and money donated by Denise's daughter Regan. We have donated $12,000.00 to the fight against lung cancer over the past 5 years. We also gave $200.00 gift cards to Dawn Shull, Terry Sumpter, Sharon Brewer and Marilou Hill who are currently in cancer treatment. We hope things are going well and know that they are not alone in this battle.
The 5th poker run was another great day for cancer patients and Lung and Ovarian cancer research.We had 150 motorcycles and 190 people ride in the event. The day went very smooth and we gave away alot of nice prizes that had been donated. This years fund rasing totals are not yet complete since there are still donations coming in but we expect to reach close to $15,000.00. That total includes a $700.00 donation to The National Lung Cancer Partnership from Denise and Ron's daughter Regan Braun in memory fo her mom.This years grand prize winners are listed on our sponsors page. With the help of Sarka Construction, Findlay Shop Supply and Friends of the poker run, who put up all the grand prize money and the poker hand money and we have few other expenses it allows us to give all moneys raised back to local cancer patients and research. We want to thank all our sponsors and everyone who came out on June 16th and supported our cause so we can continue to help local cancer patients and research.
Team member Randy Szaller's daughter Niki used her senior project to help local cancer patients at Fostoria Oncology Department. She held several fund raisers and use the proceeds to donate $200.00 worth of gas cards that were given to 8 different patients. The committee also gave $200.00 gift cards to Kaylene Kramer, Barbara Lodge and Sharon Brewer. We wish them good health and hope they have an enjoyable summer
The Poker Run Team is now selling tckets for this years grand prize raffle. First place is $1500.00- 2nd prize is $500.00-3rd prize is $250.00-4th prize is $150.00. You can get tickets from any team member. Tickets are also on sale at Jeff's Bar, Slow Ride Saloon, in Luckey, Snuffy Bar and at Friendly Ron's in Wayne. You may also see one of our top ticket sellers Darlene (pictured at left in her sister Denise's Mustang) who may be anywhere. We are also raffling off a Henry lever action 22 rifle and tickets are available from any team member. There are only 125 tickets.
The Memorial Fund recently gave $150.00 gift cards to Gloria Salazar, Vickie Dull, Arvette Souder, Michael Mitchell, Lucinda Dull and 2 other cancer patients. We wish these people good health and hope things get better soon. The fund has now donated $7500.00 in gift cards and sent sent two family to Kalahari Water Park and to Cedar Point. We thank all our friends who have help make this possible.
The Poker Run team gave $200.00 gift cards to James Peters, John E. Green, Dolly Kramer, Helen M. Watson, Martha Vogel, Thomas Sherman and two other cancer patients. We have donated over $6500.00 in gift cards this year and $2000.00 to cancer research. The team would like to thank everyone who has supported our efforts and attended our ride. The patients and research groups appreciate your generosity. We hope everyone has a healthy and safe riding season in 2012. We look forward to seeing all our families and friends on June 16th, 2012 so we can continue to provide cancer patients and Lung and Ovarian research with the help they need. The Memorial Fund gave $700.00 worth of gift cards to the Cancer Support Groups christmas party in December at Fostoria Hospital. This is a monthly get togeather for people going through treatment and those that have finished their treatment. We hope they all enjoyed their time at the party and could use the cards to get something nice for themselves.
The Poker Run team donated Kalahari vacation pakages to two local children going through cancer treatments. One was 5 year old Kyla Tate who was diagnosed with leukima in 2010. We hope both children and their families had a nice time and could get away and enjoy some fun time togeather. We wish both children good health in 2012.
The poker run team gave a $1000.00 to the Ovarian Cancer Connection at the ovarian cancer walk on September 17, 2011 in Toledo. The money stays locally at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo for ovarian cancer research. The Memorial Fund has donated over $4000.00 to the fight against Ovarian Cancer ths past 4 years. A $1000.00 donation was also given to The National Lung Cancer Partnership for further lung cancer research. The Lung Cancer Partnership has made great strides in the earley diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. The Memorial Fund has given $10,000.00 to The Lung Cancer Partnership over the last 4 years. The Memorial Poker Run team has also given $7500.00 to The American Cancer Society the past 4 years.
The team gave $200.00 gift cards to Tina Warsop-Bean and Allison Karr, who is doing chemo treatments again, to do something nice for themselves or help with expenses. Poker run team member Dwayne"s uncle James Myers, who is battling lung cancer and his son-in-law Glenn Allison, who has prostate cancer were given $200.00 cash cards to help with expenses while they recieve treatment. James is currently doing chmeo and Glenn will have surgery soon. We wish them both good luck and we pray for there return to good health. We also gave Mark (left) who is in his second battle with lukiemia two tickets to Cedar Point and a cash card for food and gas. We hope he has a nice time and can forget about his battle for a while.
The Poker Run Team gave $200.00 cash cards to William Morel, Bob Steck,Dominga Puenta and Elizabeth (Betty) Nye to assist in expeneses or to do something nice for themselves. We hope things are going well for them and wish them good health in the future. We also want to thank the nurses at the Fostoria Hospital infusion center ( Kim, Mara, Brittney, Gen, Marieane, Mary Ann and Jolene) for their help in passing out gift cards and for their support.

We raised almost $7000.00 the day of the ride and that will bring our fund raising for the year to over $14,000.00. We will continue our main focus to help local cancer patients and make a donation to The National Lung Cancer Partnership and The Ovarian Cancer Connection. The poker run team gave $200.00 cash cards to Mary Alge, Mike Peelman, Gloria Norman, Thomas Ciesluk and Alison J Karr to help with expenses or to do something nice for themselves. They are currently going through cancer treatment and we hope that things go well. We are proud to support them as they continue to fight this battle and pray for their good health.
The Northwest Ohio ovarian cancer advocacy group has changed there web site to www.ovariancancerconnection.org and is working with doctors at The Toledo Medical College. This allows them to keep there money local and help the doctors who are doing research on ovarian, cervical and other women related cancers. The Denise Youngs Memorial Fund has donated over $4000.00 to Ovarian cancer research in the past and will continue to work with them in the future.
The Poker un team donated $200.00 gift cards to Cindy Durst, Jim Kraliek and James Hardin who are going through cancer treatments. We hope that Cindy, Jim and James can use it to do something nice for themself or help pay some bills. We wish them good health and hope people keep them in their prayers and thoughts.
Friend of the Poker Run and fellow motorcycle rider Lynnn Mintz was recently diagnosed with a reaccurane of cancer. They found Lynn's tumor earley and her prognosis is very good. Lynn has gone through more chemotherapy and has not been able to work. The Poker Run team helped Lynn pay some bills until she gets back on her feet. Lynn would like to thank everyone for there prayers and well wishs and to tell everyone she is determined to get well and ride again soon. We wish Lynn good health and look forward to seeing her at the poker run.

The Memorial Poker Run Team donated $3000.00 to the Northwest Ohio Ovarian Cancer Coalalion at there Walk To Break The Silenece on September 18th, 2010. The money is from proceeds we raised at the Memorial Poker Run in June. All $3000.00 will be used by a team of doctors at The Toledo Mecical College for womens ovarian cancer research. The Poker Run Team wants to thank everyone for there donations and congratulate the over 100 survivors who attended the walk.
The Memmorial Poker Run Team donated $5000.00 to the National Lung Cancer Partnership on July 31, 2010 at there annual Rumble Run in Perrysburg, Ohio. The money was part of the proceeds raised from our poker run in June and we were the largest single donation for the event. Ron is pictured here with Luann Cummings, who is a lung cancer suvivor and the local advocte for lung cancer awareness. Luann works very hard to promote lung cancer awareness and has become a very big supporter of the Memorial Poker Run.
The Memorial Poker Run team donated $100.00 to The Rally for the Cure Golf outting on July 24th. The event is a fund raiser for breast cancer research and is organized by team member Tony Kracher's mom Deb. All those affected by breast cancer appreciate Deb's hard work organizing the golf outting and supportting breast cancer for many years. The Poker Run team would like to thank Deb for her hard work in the fight against cancer.
The 3rd Denise Youngs Memorial Poker Run on June 19th, 2010 was the most successful ride yet. We had over 150 bikes and almost 200 people ride and raised over $10,000.00 that will be donated to tne National Lung Cancer Partnership and The National Ovarian Cancer Colalition of Northwest Ohio, plus we will continue to support all local cancer charities and local cancer rides. The poker run team would like to thank everyone for coming out and supporting our efforts and also thank all those who donated and volunteered to help us. With out all your support we could not continue to keep the fight against cancer going.
If anyone knows of any local cancer rides or events let me know at this web site and we will try to help. We would welcome any donations and we will pass it on to local cancer patients in this area.

Friend of the poker run Lyne Walby was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Lyne has gone through some surgery and treatments and is now teaching her nursing class and getting ready to ride again. The poker run team donated a $100.00 gift card for Lyne to use on her recent cruise and well deserved vacation. We wish Lyne good health and look forward to seeing her at the poker run. The poker run team of Ron, Tony, Tom, Craig, Randy and Duane would like to thank everyone for attending all the cancer benefits and fund raisers this summer. We donated over $6400.00 to seven different charities. Tony rode in many of those and I personally attended six of those events and met many cancer survivors and everyone apprecated the teams efforts to bring awareness and funds for cancer research. We will continue to raise funds and promote awareness for the many under funded cancers such as lung, ovarian, colon and uterine cancer. So again thanks for your help and we look forward to seeing everyone at next years poker run.
The Denise Youngs Memorial Fund donated $100.00 to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition's recent Walk To Break The Silence in Toledo. Ohio. The donation was made in Honor of Lynn Boff-Mintz who is pictured here with the over 60 ovarian cancer survivors who attended the event on September 19, 2009.
Ron and some family and friends attended the National Lung Cancer Partnerships first ever combined motorcycle ride and 5k run held in Perrysburg, Ohio on August 29th, 2009. The Denise Youngs Memoriall Fund donated $4000.00 to National Lung Cancer Partnership that was raised from our poker run. I met with Louann Cummings who is the partnerships local advocate and a six year lung cancer survivor and she told me she would like to thank the poker run team and all our volunteers and everyone who helped make this large donation possible. Lung cancer kills more women and men than breast, prostate, colon, kidney, liver and melanoma cancers combined.Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer, although almost 20 percent of lung cancer patients never smoked. Lung cancer kills more women than breast, ovarian and uterine cancer combined. The Memorial Poker Run web site is linked to The National Lung Cancer Parnerships national web site.
The poker run team donated $100.00 to the Carla Alexander benefit on August 22nd that was held at Freindly Ron's. Carla is currently under going treatment for uterine cancer. Carla is doing well and we ask that you keep Carla in your thoughts and prayers.
The poker run team donated a Harley tool box to the Lynn Boff-Mintz cancer ride on August 8th.The tool box was auctioned off and the $80.00 was donated to the cause. Lynn rode with Ron, Tony and Rhonda and despite a little rain the event was a great success. Lynn was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in February and after surgery and chemo she is now cancer free and on her way to a full recovery. Lynn would like to thank everyone for attending the ride and with their help over the past few difficult months.We wish Lynn good health and happiness.

Team members Tony, Jeff and Ron attended the Snuffy's cancer ride on Saturday July 11th, 2009 . The poker run team donated a<strong> Harley tool box that was raffled off by Tony's wife Rhonda and Ron and donated the $100.00 to the cause. Also at the event 86 year old Ernie Fork took his first motorcycle ride in over 30 years and the pictures tell the story. Hope we can ride again soon Ernie. See Ernie's ride on our links page.
Poker Run team members Ron, Craig, Tony and Jeff donating $2000.00 to the American Cancer Society at the Fostoria Relay for Life. The donation was made in memory of Barb Carlo and Jeff's mom Sook Otteny-Howard. Barb's picture is at the bottom of this page accepting last years $5500.00 donation to the American Cancer Society.
The poker run on June 20th was another great sucess. We had over 125 motorcycles and 165 people register for the ride. We gave away over $2500.00 worth of donated prizes and cash at this years ride and raised over $7000.00 that was donated to the National Lung Cancer Partnership and the American Cancer Society. In the last year we have donated almost $14,000.00 to cancer research groups, local cancer patients and other cancer charity events in the area. We will continue to donate our time and money to local cancer rides including the Snuffy's Bar run, the Lynn Boff-Mintz poker run at Rollersville Bar and the Carla Alexander charity event at Freindly Ron's to name a few. If anyone knows of an event or cancer patient that is having a ride or event in the area let me know at this web site and we will try to help. We would welcome any help we can recieve and we will pass that on to other cancer patients in the area.

Barb Carlo, 67, of Fostoria, Ohio passed away Friday, June 19, 2009 at her home.She worked for the American Cancer Society as Seneca County Director for many years and started the Seneca County Relay for Life. Barb helped in getting our first poker run off to a great start by promoting us in the paper and on the radio.Barb bought the first raffle ticket we ever sold. All cancer survivors owe Barb a debt of gratitude for all her hard work in promoting cancer related charities and services. The poker run team would like send our condolences to Barb's family.
Jack Romaker, 83, of Tucson, Az. and formerly of Custer, Oh passed away May 31, 2009.Jack is the father of Terri Garner and father-in-law of Greenup. He is a WWII veteran, serving in the Army Air Corp. Jack spent his summers in Ohio riding his Plum Crazy shovelhead with many of us to events around the area. Rest in peace Jack and keep on riding forever.
Update on Donna: Donna has had her surgury and radiation treatments and is now cancer free. She would like to thank everyone for their support and well wishs over the past few months. One of Denise's freinds and riding partners Donna Foster has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Donna will have some surgery and treatment and be back on her bike and riding cancer free in no time. Donna is a member of the American Legion Riders and the GWRR and can be seen at many local charity rides wiht her big smile and giving heart. So when you see Donna give her, as Donna says, a squeeze and tell her good luck. Get well and see you on the road Donna.
Denise's riding freinds with her Sporster at the 5th annual Napoleon H-D womens ride on May 2nd. This was one of Denise's favorite events and and she encouraged her fellow women riding freinds to attend.
Kristen Frankforther, 53, passed away April 5th, 2009 in Fostoria. Krissy is the wife of Ron Frankforther who is a sponser of The Memorial Poker Run Team and the owner of Freindly Ron,s Cafe in Wayne. Ron has been a hugh help in organizing and donating to the Poker Run. The Poker Run Team would like to send our prayers and thoughts out to Ron and his family.
The poker run team donated $100.00 to the Ducky Day Benefit on Nov. 15th held at Friendly Ron's in Wayne. Team members Ron and Tom used the money to do 50/50 raffles throught out the day and raised over $1100.00 that was donated to the family of Hal Foster. Hal was diagnosed with cancer earlier in the year and is now on his way to a full recovery. The event raised over $20,000.00 for the Foster family to help with expenses. The poker run team wishes Hal and his family the best.
Bonnie Weiker was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Bonnie has gone through some surgery and some other treatments and I am happy to say she is doing fine and is now cancer free. Bonnie is back to work and riding her bike. Let's keep Bonnie in our prayers and thoughts as she continues on the road to recovery.

We wish Dugan and his family the best and ask people to keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers. I got this update on Leila from her mom Tarah on October 2nd, 2009. The last lab tests show that the transplant is working and she is on her way to a good working immune system and ready to be taken off the steriods she has been on her whole life. Here is a new picture of Leila at 2years and five months. Poker Run team member Dwayne's grand-daughter Lelia Everly was born May 31, 2007. Lelia was diagnosed with DiGeorge Syndrome and doctors at Duke University recommended a life saving Thymus Gland transplant. Dwayne and his wife Yvette and other volunteers are raising an estimated $40,000.00 to help with the transplant. Leila went to Duke University on Feb 1st for her transplant. Leila and her mom Tarah are now home and the transplant is working and Leila is now recovering. Leila can now get outside and do things she has not been able to do before. Leila's mom Tarah and grandparents Yvette and Duane would like to thank everyone for there support and prayers. Lets keep Leila and Tarah in our thoughts and prayers.
